Crunchy, Sweet, And Filling Grain-free Granola!

breakfast dairy-free desserts gluten-free grain-free paleo Dec 15, 2020

Oh granola! How we love you so! You’re crunchy and sweet. But we have to break up with you because you have too much sugar and far too many carbs. We need a better balance of carbs, protein, and healthy fat. And we need something grain-free (for those of us who don’t tolerate grains).

Most granola recipes use oats as their base and then add in all sorts of dried fruit, some nuts, and hold it all together with some kind of sticky, liquid sweetener, like honey, agave, brown rice syrup, or corn syrup. The carb load is off the charts, and seriously, who can eat the suggested serving size, which is usually 1/4 cup? It’s so good and we want more!

Don’t fret! We have a grain-free granola recipe that totally ROCKS! It’s crunchy and sweet and oh-so-filling! We use all sorts of nuts and seeds and season it with plenty of cinnamon, which gives you that sweet sensation and warm, comfort-food feeling.

This recipe is incredibly flexible, as you can swap in and out any nuts and seed that YOU like! We usually throw this together with whatever we have on hand and it always turns out amazing!

If you have a nut allergy, you can make this recipe nut-free by subbing out the nuts for all sorts of seeds – pepitas, sunflower, sesame, hemp, chia – and use sunflower seed butter (we LOVE 88 Acres) instead of almond butter.

See…we’ve got you covered

TIP: keep your nuts and seeds in the refrigerator or freezer to keep them from going rancid. Nuts and seeds are very high in fat, which can oxidize (go rancid) very quickly at or above room temperature.
