Paleo Chocolate Chip Banana Doughnuts

Mmm...Doughnuts (cue the Homer Simpson tape).

Doughnuts remind us of our childhood. Glazed doughnuts. Sugar doughnuts. Apple fritters. It was impossible to choose.

As kids, we had no idea, nor did we care, about the nutritional qualities of a doughnut. It was just sweet and good and we wanted more!

Fast-forward a few years (or decades) and the nutritional knowledge landscape has dramatically changed. We know so much more about nutrients, food quality, and the impact it has on inflammation, weight, and health.

Let’s quickly breakdown the anatomy of a doughnut: sugar, white flour, fried in unhealthy fats. Now that’s a recipe for health disaster!

One of our goals is to create recipes that are more nutritious versions of these types of recipes while keeping the flavor and texture that make you satisfied and happy. We like to “healthify” recipes

This recipe is super-easy to make, bakes quickly, and will be gobbled up in no time at all. Nutritionally, it’s lower in carbs, grain-free, dairy-free, high-protein, high-fiber, and a good source of healthy fats. It’s very macro-balanced. Plus, it taste AWESOME! Win- Win!

We use silicon doughnut pans to make this recipe because they are much easier to remove the cooled doughnuts. We found ours on Amazon. Click this link to see which ones we use, so you can get them too!

You can go for the serious bonus points by making the date-caramel sauce to spread or drizzle on top. The recipe for the date caramel makes enough so that you will have leftovers which you can use for so many dessert recipes, like our Best Damn Chocolate Chip Cookie Skillet! Yum!

If you want another delicious doughnut recipe, make sure to try our Paleo Pumpkin Spice Chocolate Chip Doughnuts. We vote for pumpkin recipes all year long! Are you with us?
